The Village by the Ponds
Carshalton has a feel all of its own. The old village grew up around the two ponds fed by springs that rise nearby and flow into the River Wandle. Around them are the High Street, The Square, All Saints Church on the hill and the Honeywood Museum on the edge of the water.
It is a lovely place to live and a tricky one to drive in. The roads around the ponds are narrow, parking is tight and the junction at the bottom of the High Street gets busy. Our drivers know where to pull in safely for pickups, and they will not leave you standing on a busy corner with shopping bags.
From our office in North Cheam, Carshalton village is typically 3 to 4 miles away through Sutton along the A232. Off peak the drive takes around 12 to 18 minutes.
Carshalton Beeches and the Southern Roads
South of the village, the ground rises towards Carshalton Beeches and Carshalton on the Hill. These are leafy residential roads, with Carshalton Beeches station serving trains towards Sutton and London.
Further south is Oaks Park, a big open space with a café and walks through the woodland, close to the Surrey border. Little Holland House, a small arts and crafts home open to visitors on certain days, sits in Carshalton Beeches too.
We cover all of these roads. A ride from Carshalton Beeches to Cheam typically takes 10 to 15 minutes along the roads through Sutton or Belmont.
St Helier Hospital and the Wrythe
St Helier Hospital stands on Wrythe Lane in the north of Carshalton. It is the main hospital for much of the borough, and trips to and from it are a big part of our daily work.
Hospital journeys need patience. Drivers drop you close to the main entrance and help with mobility aids if needed. We can wait during short appointments or return at a set time. For regular visits, such as treatment courses or visits to a family member on a ward, we can set up repeat bookings.
The roads around St Helier can be very busy at visiting times. Tell us your appointment time and we will plan the pickup with a bit of slack.
Carshalton Station and Rail Links
Carshalton station sits just north of the ponds, with Southern trains towards Sutton, West Croydon and central London. Hackbridge station, to the north east, serves Thameslink and Southern trains.
People book us for short runs to these stations, especially with luggage, in bad weather or early in the morning. For longer rail trips, we drive Carshalton passengers straight to the big London termini such as London Bridge and Victoria.
Hackbridge and the Wandle
The River Wandle runs along the eastern edge of Carshalton, past Hackbridge and on towards Mitcham. The Wandle Trail follows it for walkers and cyclists. Hackbridge is also home to BedZED, a well known eco village.
We cover Hackbridge and the roads along the Wandle. Many customers here book us for trips into Wallington, Mitcham and Croydon too.

Book with your flight number for return trips, and we will track your flight.
Family and Pet Friendly Services
Carshalton has lots of families and lots of dog walkers, especially around Oaks Park and the Grove. Our pet friendly taxi service sends drivers who are happy to carry dogs and cats. For children, our school run taxi offers regular term time pickups.
Wallington and Beddington Next Door
East of Carshalton lie Wallington and Beddington. Beddington Park is a large green space along the Wandle, with the historic Carew Manor and its old church nearby. Wallington has its own station and a busy shopping street on Woodcote Road.
We cover all of these, and many Carshalton customers book us for trips across to Wallington for shopping, schools and visits.
Summer Fairs and Local Events
Carshalton holds some well loved community events, with fairs and festivals in Carshalton Park and around the village during the warmer months. On those days, parking near the park and the ponds is very hard to find.
A cab takes the stress away. We drop you as close as the road closures allow and agree a pickup spot for later. Book early for busy bank holiday events.
Travelling with Little Ones
Carshalton is full of young families. Getting a toddler, a pushchair and the shopping into a car is a job in itself. Our drivers are patient and will help load the buggy.
Child seats are available on request. Tell us the age and weight of your child when you book and we will fit the right seat before the driver arrives.
Choose Your Car

Luggage figures are a typical guide. Tell us your bag count when you book and we will match the car.
Carshalton Roads at Rush Hour
Some Carshalton roads are lovely at 11am and hard work at 8.30am. The A232 through the village, the junction by Carshalton station and the approach to St Helier on Wrythe Lane all slow down at peak times. North Street and West Street can be tight with parked cars on both sides.
Our drivers plan around this. For a train or an appointment, we suggest a pickup time with a little slack built in. If the main road is jammed, they use quieter back roads through Carshalton on the Hill or round by the Wrythe. That local knowledge is the difference between a calm arrival and a rushed one.

Local Knowledge Makes a Difference
The roads around the ponds are narrow and full of parked cars. The junction near the station gets jammed. Visiting time at St Helier fills Wrythe Lane. These are the things a local driver knows and a satnav does not.
We have been working these roads for years. When you book with us, you get a driver who knows Carshalton, and an office you can phone and talk to if anything changes.
