Getting to Waterloo Without the Change

Here is the local catch. Southern trains from Cheam head into Victoria, not Waterloo. To reach Waterloo by rail you usually need to get across to Worcester Park or Wimbledon first and change there.

That is fine on a light day. It is not much fun with a suitcase, a buggy or a group of friends dressed up for a night out. A car from your door avoids all of it.

We pick up anywhere in Cheam, North Cheam and Cheam Village, and also along the roads towards Worcester Park and Stoneleigh. The driver loads your bags and takes you straight to the Waterloo side you need.

Route and Typical Journey Time

The road to Waterloo heads north on the A24 London Road through Morden and Colliers Wood, carries on through Tooting and past Clapham Common, then follows the A3 Clapham Road up through Stockwell and Kennington. From Kennington it is a short run up to the station.

Typical distance is about 11 to 12 miles. Off peak, allow 40 to 55 minutes. On weekday mornings, the stretch from Tooting to Kennington slows down, and the trip can take 65 minutes or more.

Waterloo sits within the central London Congestion Charge zone. During charging hours the charge applies to private hire cars. We will explain how it is handled in your quote.

Where Trains from Waterloo Go

Waterloo is one of the busiest stations in Britain. South Western Railway runs from here to Surrey, Hampshire and Dorset, with lines to Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth, Weymouth and Exeter.

That makes Waterloo the station for seaside trips to the south coast and for cruise passengers heading to Southampton. Big luggage, early check-in times and very little patience for missed trains. A pre-booked car is the obvious answer.

The Underground is busy here too, with the Northern, Bakerloo, Jubilee and Waterloo and City lines all stopping.

Theatre, Concerts and South Bank Nights

A lot of our Waterloo trips are not about trains at all. The South Bank is one of London's best evening areas. The National Theatre, the Old Vic, the Royal Festival Hall and the BFI all sit within a short walk of the station, and the London Eye is right there on the riverside.

Booking a cab both ways makes for a stress free night. We drop you near the venue entrance and agree a pickup time and spot for later. If the show overruns, just call and the driver will wait.

For groups, our 7 seater taxi is popular. Everyone travels together and nobody has to worry about the last train home to Cheam.

Business Trips and Meetings Near Waterloo

The area around Waterloo is full of offices, from the riverside towers on Belvedere Road to the government buildings across the river in Westminster. Plenty of Cheam residents need to get there for a meeting, an interview or a training day.

A car lets you arrive fresh, not crushed from the Tube. You can take calls in the back, read your notes and walk straight into the building. For companies, we can set up regular bookings for staff who travel often. Each trip gets the same fixed fare system and a confirmation for your records.

Pickup Points Around Waterloo

Waterloo has several sides and they are not all easy for cars. We agree a meeting point before you arrive. These are the spots that usually work best.

  • Station Approach Road, on the western side by the main entrance.
  • Mepham Street, just south of the station, which is often calmer.
  • Waterloo Road, near the junction with The Cut, handy for the Old Vic.
  • York Road, on the river side, close to the London Eye.

Send us your train time and the driver will be at the agreed spot. If you are delayed, we wait.

Meeting Someone off a Train at Waterloo

Collecting a relative or a visitor? We can do that for you. Give us the name of the passenger, the train they are on and the station it leaves from. The driver checks the arrival time, waits at the agreed spot and calls the passenger when they get off.

It is a nice way to welcome someone, especially if they do not know London. They do not need to find the Tube, buy a ticket or work out which line to take. They just look for the car and sit down. We will bring them back to your door in Cheam.

Covering the Roads Around Cheam

We collect from right across the local area, not just Cheam itself. Customers in Raynes Park and Wimbledon often book us for Waterloo runs when their own trains are disrupted or when engineering works shut the line at weekends. Our full areas we cover page lists the rest.

Step Free Travel to Waterloo

Waterloo is a large station with long walks between the entrances and the platforms. If you or a family member find stairs hard, a cab can make a real difference. The driver can drop you at the entrance closest to step free access and help with bags.

Need assistance onto the train itself? Book it with your rail operator before you travel. Then let us know the time you need to be at the station, and we will build that into the pickup time. Folding wheelchairs fit in our MPVs. Mention it when you book.

Engineering Works and Weekend Closures

Lines into Waterloo are often closed for engineering works at weekends and over bank holidays. Rail replacement buses add a lot of time, especially with bags.

If you are travelling on a weekend, check the National Rail website before you plan. If your route is affected, a cab straight to the station or straight to the South Bank is the simple fix. It is also worth booking early on those weekends, as more people choose the car.
