Why Book a Gatwick Airport Taxi from Cheam
Gatwick is the closest big airport to Cheam, and that makes a taxi a very sensible choice. The road trip is short, the train needs at least one change from most Cheam streets, and the car takes you from your hallway to the terminal door.
Think about what a holiday departure really looks like. Two big suitcases, a pushchair, a sleepy child and a bag of snacks. Dragging all of that onto a train and then through the terminal station is hard work. A car swallows the lot.
Our fares are fixed when you book. If the M25 slows to a crawl near Reigate Hill, that is our problem. You pay what you were quoted. Drivers are licensed by Transport for London, and we are open 24 hours, so early charter flights and late returns are never a problem.
Gatwick Terminals
Gatwick has two terminals, North and South. They are connected by a free shuttle train that runs every few minutes and takes about two minutes. Even so, getting dropped at the wrong one adds stress you do not need. Check your booking or your airline app the day before. Airlines sometimes switch terminals, so do not rely on last year's trip.
Gatwick North Terminal Transfers
The North Terminal sits at the end of its own short road off the M23 spur. Drop-off is on the departures forecourt, close to the check-in halls. For arrivals, our driver meets you in the arrivals area and walks you to the short stay car park, which is a short walk from the hall.
Gatwick South Terminal Taxi
The South Terminal is the older building and it has the airport railway station built into it. That makes the area busier on foot, so drop-offs can take a minute longer. Tell your driver which airline you are flying with and they will pull in as close as the forecourt allows.
Route, Journey Time and Traffic Tips (M25 / M23)
The road from Cheam to Gatwick is simple. Your driver takes the A217 south through Belmont and past Banstead to Burgh Heath, joins the M25 at junction 8, goes clockwise to junction 7, then picks up the M23 heading south. Junction 9 puts you on the spur road straight into the airport.
Typical distance is around 17 to 19 miles. On a clear road the drive usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Weekday mornings and Friday afternoons can push that towards an hour, and summer Saturdays are busy on the M23.
If the motorway is shut, there is a backup route down the A217 through Reigate and on towards Horley. It is slower but keeps you moving. Our drivers check the traffic before they set off and pick the better road.
A simple rule we give customers is to plan to arrive two hours before a short haul flight and three before long haul. Book the pickup to match.
Gatwick Airport Cars
Choose your car by counting people and bags together. Here is the fleet.

Luggage figures are a typical guide. Tell us your bag count when you book and we will match the car.
Saloon / Executive / MPV / 8-Seater Minibus
The saloon is ideal for one to four people with light luggage. The executive car keeps four seats but adds a premium cabin, so it suits business trips and special holidays. The 6 seater MPV handles up to six passengers and four big cases, which is great for two couples sharing. The 8 seater minibus takes up to eight people and six large cases, so a whole group arrives together. See our 6 seater taxi and 7 seater taxi pages for more on the bigger cars.
Meet and Greet Pickup at Gatwick
Flying back into Gatwick? Meet and greet makes the end of a trip easy. Your driver tracks your flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, and helps with the trolley to the car.
Give us your flight number when you book. If your plane is early or late, we see it and adjust. Once you have your bags, look for your name. That is it.
Cheam Minicab Phone Number
Prefer to book by phone? Call 020 3642 6174 any time, day or night. A person answers, not a menu. Have your flight number, terminal and passenger count to hand and the booking takes a couple of minutes.
