A Straight Road from Cheam to Southwark
London Bridge is a station people use for many reasons. Some are catching a train to Kent. Some are heading to an appointment at Guy's Hospital. Others work in the City, just over the river, or are meeting friends at Borough Market on a Saturday.
Whatever brings you there, the car is the simple choice when you have bags, a tight time or a long day ahead. We collect from any road in Cheam, North Cheam or Cheam Village and drop you right outside the station or the building you need nearby.
Our drivers know the one way streets and bus lanes around Southwark. That matters here, because the roads around the station changed a lot when it was rebuilt, and getting to the right side can be fiddly if you do not know the area.
Route and Journey Time
The typical road takes the A24 north through Morden and Tooting, on through Clapham and Stockwell to Kennington, then up to the Elephant and Castle. From there Borough High Street leads straight to the station.
Typical distance is around 12 miles. Off peak, the trip usually takes 45 to 60 minutes. In rush hour, especially between Clapham and the Elephant, it can take 70 minutes or more.
London Bridge is inside the central London Congestion Charge zone. During charging hours the charge applies to private hire journeys, and we will tell you how it is handled in your quote.
At quieter times, a route via the A3 and along the river past Vauxhall can be faster. The driver checks the traffic before setting off.
Trains from London Bridge
The rebuilt station is now one of the most important in south London. Southeastern trains run to Kent, including the coast at Ramsgate, Dover and Hastings. Thameslink runs north through the City to Bedford, Cambridge and Peterborough. Southern runs services to Sussex and parts of south London.
The Jubilee and Northern lines also stop here, so it is a handy jumping off point for Canary Wharf, the West End and north London.
If you are catching a long distance train, give us the time and we will get you there with room to spare.
Guy's Hospital and Medical Appointments
Guy's Hospital stands right next to the station on St Thomas Street. Plenty of patients from the Sutton and Merton area are referred there, often for specialist appointments or treatment days.
Getting there on public transport after a procedure is not something anyone wants to do. A pre-booked car is calmer. The driver drops you as close to the entrance as possible and can wait or come back when you are done. Just let us know your appointment time and whether you need a return.
If you are travelling with a carer or a relative, the car has room for everyone. Folding wheelchairs fit in our MPVs.
Borough Market and Riverside Evenings
On weekends, London Bridge turns into one of London's best food areas. Borough Market is a few minutes on foot from the station, with stalls, restaurants and pubs packed into the streets under the railway arches. Hay's Galleria and the riverside path along to Tower Bridge are close by too.
A cab home at the end of the evening saves you checking train times at midnight. Book in advance or call when you are ready.
Tower Bridge and City Offices
Many people from Cheam and Sutton work in the City of London, just over the river from the station. On days when you have a laptop, a presentation and a suit to keep tidy, a car is easier than a packed train.
We can drop you at the station or go on over London Bridge to your office. Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are also close by, which makes the area popular with visitors. If you have family staying, a car to Tower Bridge and a walk along the river is a great day out.
The Shard and Special Occasions
The Shard rises straight above the station. Its restaurants and viewing gallery are popular for birthdays, anniversaries and proposals. Getting there smart and on time is part of the occasion.
Book a car to arrive in good time, and a return for the end of the evening. Our drivers will drop you as close to the Shard entrance on St Thomas Street as traffic allows.
Pickup Points at London Bridge
The station has entrances on several sides. We agree the spot with you before you arrive. These usually work well.
- Tooley Street, on the north side by the main concourse entrance.
- St Thomas Street, on the south side, close to Guy's Hospital.
- Duke Street Hill, near the junction with Borough High Street.
- Borough High Street, by the western entrance under the arches.
If your train is running late, we see it and wait. Call us if you cannot spot the car and we will guide you.
Early Trains to Kent
Southeastern trains from London Bridge to the Kent coast can leave early, especially at weekends when people head off for a day by the sea. Getting to the station for a 7am train from Cheam by public transport is not easy.
We can collect you at any hour. Give us the train time and we will set a pickup that gets you to the station with time to find your platform. On the way back, we can meet you off the evening train.
Choose the Car That Fits
Here are the options. Count people and bags together before you choose.

Luggage figures are a typical guide. Tell us your bag count when you book and we will match the car.
A saloon suits most trips for one or two people. Families with luggage for a Kent holiday often book the 6 seater taxi. Bigger groups can share the 8 seater.

A Few Practical Tips
London Bridge can be busy and confusing on foot. These habits help.
- Check which entrance you need, as the platforms for different operators are spread out.
- Leave extra time on weekday mornings, when the area is packed with commuters walking to the City.
- For hospital trips, book your return at the same time so you are not waiting around afterwards.
- On Saturdays, roads near Borough Market can be slow, so allow a few more minutes.
