Two Big Stations, One Easy Drop

King's Cross and St Pancras stand side by side on Euston Road, separated only by Pancras Road. Between them they cover a lot of travel. Trains north to Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland leave from King's Cross. Eurostar trains to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam leave from St Pancras.

From Cheam, both are a long way. It is the furthest of the big London stations from our office. By public transport, that usually means a train to Victoria and the Victoria line north, often standing with your bags.

A car from your front door turns that into one relaxed ride. Tell us which station you need and we will drop you at the right entrance.

Route and Drive Time from Cheam

The typical road takes the A24 north through Morden, Colliers Wood and Tooting to Clapham, across the river at Vauxhall, and past Victoria and Hyde Park Corner. Park Lane leads to Marylebone Road, which becomes Euston Road and runs straight to King's Cross.

Typical distance is about 15 to 16 miles. Off peak, the trip usually takes 60 to 75 minutes. In weekday rush hours it can be longer, so we build in extra time for trains you cannot miss.

Most routes from Cheam pass through the Congestion Charge zone. If your trip falls in charging hours, your quote will show how the charge is handled.

Trains North from King's Cross

LNER runs fast trains from King's Cross up the East Coast to Peterborough, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh, with branches to Leeds and beyond. Grand Central, Hull Trains and Lumo also use the station. Great Northern runs commuter trains to Cambridge and Hertfordshire.

These are long journeys, often with reserved seats and big bags. Arriving calm and on time matters. We plan the pickup so you get there with plenty of time to find your platform.

Eurostar from St Pancras International

Eurostar is a different kind of trip. You need to check in and clear passport control before boarding, and the gates close well before departure. Eurostar advises arriving in good time, and it is worth checking your ticket for the exact check-in window.

Missing a Eurostar is expensive. That is why many people book a car for this leg rather than rely on the Tube. We drop you on Pancras Road or by the main entrance, a short walk from the check-in area.

Coming back from Europe? Give us your train number and arrival time. We will meet you at an agreed spot outside.

Granary Square and Coal Drops Yard

The area behind King's Cross has changed hugely. Granary Square has fountains, restaurants and the Central Saint Martins art school. Coal Drops Yard is full of independent shops and places to eat. The canal towpath runs right through it.

It is a great spot for a day out or a meal with friends. We can drop you on York Way or close to Granary Square, then collect you later.

The Platform for Young Wizards

If you have children who love a certain boy wizard, you will know about the famous platform at King's Cross. There is a photo spot and a shop in the main concourse, and it is a popular day out for families from all over the country.

Queues can be long at weekends and in school holidays, so plan to arrive early. A car straight from Cheam saves the young ones from a long Tube trip before the fun starts.

Weekend Breaks to York and Edinburgh

A weekend in York or Edinburgh by train is one of the great British trips. LNER trains can get you there in a few hours, through some lovely countryside along the East Coast.

The trick is starting well. Book a car for an early Friday train, and agree a Sunday evening pickup at King's Cross for the way home. That way the only planning you need to do is where to eat when you arrive.

British Library and Bloomsbury

The British Library sits right next to St Pancras on Euston Road. It is free to visit, and its exhibitions draw people from all over London. Bloomsbury, with the British Museum and its leafy squares, is a short walk south.

Researchers, students and visitors from Cheam book us for days at the library. We drop you on Euston Road and collect you later.

Arriving Back Late

Many trains from the north arrive at King's Cross late in the evening, and delays on long routes are common. After four hours on a train, crossing London by Tube is a chore.

Book your pickup with the train details and we will track it. If it is late, the driver waits. You walk out of the station and straight into the car, and the roads back to Cheam are usually much quieter at night.

Drop-Off and Pickup Points

The roads around both stations are busy and partly restricted, so we agree a meeting point before you travel. These usually work well.

  • Pancras Road, running between King's Cross and St Pancras.
  • York Way, on the eastern side of King's Cross, close to Granary Square.
  • Euston Road, along the front of both stations.

For arrivals, send us the train time and we will track it.

Choosing Between King's Cross and St Pancras

It is easy to mix the two up. Here is a simple guide. Trains to the North East, Yorkshire, Scotland and Cambridge mostly leave from King's Cross. Eurostar and high speed trains to Kent and the East Midlands leave from St Pancras.

Check your ticket before you book, and tell us which station is printed on it. The two buildings are close, but with luggage the walk between them still takes a few minutes. Getting dropped at the right door makes a calmer start.
